Let’s flashback to April 2011. Bari was first opening its doors to Tribeca, and its freshly painted walls were splashed and sprayed with the art of our very first artist-in-residence, Chris Choi.
If you weren’t around for the beginnings of Bari, you can view Chris’ second Bari exhibit, which is currently on display in Tribeca. Because our inaugural Bari artist is a dear member of our Tribe, we wanted to update you on one of his current projects.
Chris has recently collaborated with designer Veronica Menendez and lifestyle brand Spenglish on a clean art project using reverse graffiti. Their project is called Greene Street NYC, and Chris’ artwork will be displayed on one of New York’s busiest streets, West Houston!
The Greene Street NYC project is being funded by donations, which are currently being accepted on Kickstarter. Chris and his Greene Street team would greatly appreciate your help in making their vision a reality. For a $20 donation, your name will be ‘cleaned’ into a New York City sidewalk (and you’ll also get a thank you shout on on Greene Street’s web site).
If you’d like to support fellow Triber and Bari artist-in-residence, Chris, time is of the essence. This Saturday, May 4th, at 8:30 p.m. is Greene Street’s deadline to meet their project goal of $15,000.
Check it out the project, and donate here. And if the project speaks to you, please share with your own Tribe on Facebook!

Remember (a few days ago) when our walls were white and covered with explosive colors?

That was nice.
Then this happened.
The photography exhibit was planned; the black walls were not.
They were whimsically inspired by a client’s suggestion to paint the walls beige. (Thanks, Amanda!) Because we’re rebels, we interpreted ‘beige’ as ‘blackboard.’ And, within 24 hours, our white walls became black. (We know, we move quickly.)
So far, we’re pretty in love with the decision. And even more in love with the photos that we - so fortunately - get to consider our ‘office art’ every day.
We hope to see you tonight at our cocktail party - 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bari- where we’ll be celebrating our new art installation. And our new black walls. You know what they say. Once you go black…

Who: Urban Decay
Why they are amazing: They chose to stand by their morals and not sell in China, which legally requires all cosmetics companies to test on animals. Morals over profits.
Thank you Emily for writting this article and bringing awareness to animal cruelty and cosmetics companies entering China’s market!!

Who: Missoni <3 Havainas
What makes them amazing: They have teamed up again this year, this time to make Eco-friendly Flip-flips.
For their Summer 2012 collection, thay have debuted limited edition flip-flops for men, women and children. They are made from colorful left over rubber pieces from Havainas’ manufacturing process used to make Missoni’s iconic zig-zag patterns. Just for this eco-friendly collection, these flip-flops are exclusively packaged in recyclable material and come with a custom Missoni knit shoe bag.
Angela Missoni, Creative director of Missoni said:
“For Missoni, the relationship with nature has always been a priority. Living and working closely in touch with the natural landscapes has inspired us to capture the season and its changing colours into our designs. At the same time, Havaianas is firmly concerned about reducing waste and re-using and recycling materials. With this collaboration, it’s indeed a perfect match of both our passions: fashion and respect for nature.”
Available at all Havaina stores throughout the summer, prices start at a fashion friendly $70. Pictures from http://us.havaianas.com/limited-edition-sandals/missoni.html.
