I felt like a hybrid cheerleader/gymnast/ninja as I jumped, chasséd and squated my way across (and up and down) the studio space. And the variety of props and tools we used (trampoline, TRX, weights, gliders, resistance bands, step) had my muscles feeling a serious but pleasant burn for days after.

An intense class for sure, but also intensely fun.

“I was invited to a health discussion by Brown University recently and a person in the audience asked the panelists about workouts for people over 50. The panelists didn’t really know how to answer and bypassed her question by addressing something sort-of-but-not-really related. The person in the audience reiterated her concern: “Right, maybe my question wasn’t clear. What I mean to say is it’s hard for us to do most of the workouts recommended in magazines these days. What do you suggest people over 50 do?” Again, no answer.

She got me thinking. I’ve only gone through a few generational cycles of my own, but I’ve been fortunate to sweat alongside many bari tribers in many stages of their own lives. And I’ve realized: there’s always a major obstacle that stands in the way of choosing a healthy body. Whether you’re 18 or 65, it’s never easy, and there are always very legitimate excuses. However, there’s always, always, always a reason to connect with your soul and treat your body well. The key is acknowledging what’s working against you and feeling empowered to push through in a way that feels good.”
