I’m not a fan of juicing as a form of dieting or “eating,” but nothing beats cold-pressed juice as an easy snack or jumpstart to your morning. First and most important: Fresh juices are delicious. Second and, okay, equally as important: Juices provide an easy way to squeeze in a condensed dose of nutrients that we may not otherwise have time to fit into our diet. Just think of them as your drinkable salads.

I think we’re pretty lucky that juice bars have become nearly as ubiquitous as coffee shops in New York, leaving us readily equipped to grab these supercharged, fresh treats whenever the craving strikes. (That’d be always.)

Here are some of my favorite go-to juices around the city. Depending on where my day takes me, this rotation of regulars always leaves me well nourished and energized.

1. Ginger Fireball, $8.00. There’s always an excuse to “need” a ginger fireball. Sore throat. Normal throat. Hot out. Cold inside. Pre-game. Hangover. These are all valid reasons - trust me.
Ingredients: Orange, lemon, ginger, cayenne extract, oil of oregano.

2. Coconut H2O, $9.99. Ever since Harmless Harvest went on its (since remedied) dry spell, I desperately searched for an alternative. Kaffe 1668, just a few blocks away from Bari, gave me the answer. Kaffe’s coconut water is not pasteurized and is incredibly refreshing.
Ingredients: Young thai coconut water.

3. Red Radical, $8.00. I’ve already told you about my beloved Red Radical here. But it’s that special to me. Refreshing, hydrating and low calorie, this juice is perfection.
Ingredients: Watermelon and lime.

4. Royal Flush, $8.50: Or as I refer to it, “Hangover, be gone!” We’ve all been there. It starts with one too many cocktails during an impromptu happy hour and ends with a morning-after feeling of fogginess and the possibility that you may have actually turned into a shriveled prune overnight. Have no fear, Royal Flush is your tasty post-drinking miracle elixir that will leave you feeling like a million bucks. (And way less prune-y.)
Ingredients: Pineapple, pear, ginger, aloe vera, liver kidney lymph detox.

5. Goddess of Green, $9.00. If you find yourself walking about Nolita, I highly suggest stopping by The Butcher’s Daughter. My neighborhood go-to, this beautiful, airy cafe and juice bar has an incredible selection of exotic and super creative juice concoctions. Don’t be intimidated by the ingredient combinations; they always seem unlikely, but they always work in the most delicious way.
Ingredients: Kale, cucumber, green apple, fennel, pineapple, thyme, blue green algae.

6. Mean Greens, $10.00. When I know I won’t be able to get my daily dose of leafy greens, I seek out a juice that will conveniently provide it for me. As our good friend Hippocrates once said, “Let thy food be thy medicine.” And that it shall be with Mean Greens. All greens are not created equal, and this juice is certainly an incredibly diversified nutritional powerhouse.
Ingredients: Kale, chard, cucumber, lemon, parsley, cilantro.
